Winning Beyond Book Sales – Changing the Author Success Narrative

For far too long, the prevailing gauge of an author’s success rested solely on book sales and the coveted title of a bestseller. Yet, imagine a realm where the triumph of books transcends mere sales figures. This is precisely what authorpreneurship, or author entrepreneurship, aims to accomplish. Drawing from personal experiences and compelling case studies, this updated and expanded edition of “Authorpreneur Secret$” unravels the possibilities and offers an alternative path to success for authors, liberating them from the unfortunate fate that befalls 95% of independent authors who face financial setbacks with their first publication.

Within these pages, you’ll glean insights on how to quickly write your book, publish it without breaking the bank (all under the modest sum of US$1000), and harness the potential of your creation to birth profitable products and services. The goal is to effect a transformative change in lives and cultivate a lasting income stream for you, your family, or your organization.

Are you fearful about diving into the world of publishing? Fear not, for as the wise King Solomon noted in Ecclesiastes 12:12b, “…of the making of many books, there is no end.” This book not only encourages prolific production but emphasizes the importance of doing so cost-effectively. The crux of the matter is learning not only how to produce books but also to maximize them for greater impact and increased income.

My Authorpreneur journey began less than a year before the release of the first edition of “Authorpreneur Secret$” in February 2019. Despite its infancy, this edition swiftly emerged as an exemplar of Authorpreneurship, bringing its subtitle – “write fast, publish affordably, and generate lasting income” – to vibrant life. Crafted in a mere three days in November 2018, published in February 2019, and sponsored by ND Author Services, this book became the cornerstone of my inaugural Authorpreneurship bootcamp in Jamaica in February 2019. It immediately assumed the role of primary instructional material for the participants.

Following the bootcamp’s success, the content was converted into an online course. By May 2020, the book gave birth to the Authorpreneur Secret$ Academy, complete with a membership group that empowered over 27 authors to publish on a budget. The book’s content further fueled the creation of multiple courses, spanning writing, publishing, and marketing.

In January 2021, the book was transformed into the Caribbean Authorpreneur Summit, broadening its impact and equipping more Caribbean authors to bring their works to fruition. By May 2021, it seamlessly transitioned into The Authorpreneur Secret$ Podcast.

Despite selling fewer than 100 copies, this book has proven to be a lucrative venture. The income generated far surpasses that of my other books, resulting in a 5-figure income in USD and seven figures in Jamaican dollars. This financial success spurred the establishment of a flourishing publishing business, providing employment for numerous freelancers. Additionally, it enabled scholarships for tertiary students and helped a few high school teenagers to contribute financially to their households.

Graduates from the Authorpreneur Secret$ Academy have gone on to initiate their publishing businesses or work as freelancers, contributing to the realization of their publishing dreams. The impact extends beyond financial success; it serves as a guide for Caribbean authors, illustrating how to leverage their books as a vehicle for their vision and tools in business promotion, ministry building, and life transformation.

This book drives the vision of raising up 10,000 Caribbean Authorpreneurs by 2030. This revised edition is brimming with more stories. It unveils the path to writing fast, publishing cost-effectively, and provides practical examples for navigating the authorpreneurial journey. True to its essence, this edition simplifies answers to frequently asked questions, guiding authors on writing, budget-friendly publishing, and the art of deriving impact and income from their creations.

NOTE WELL: This book doesn’t prioritize teaching you how to become a best-seller; instead, it places emphasis on being a best-earner. The intent is clear: reach a wider audience without physical presence and save authors from financial burdens, time constraints, and the pitfalls of publishing.

Serving as a primer in authorpreneurship, particularly from a Caribbean perspective, this book lays a robust foundation. While it might not address every query related to authorpreneurship, it promises to expedite the realization of your publishing and income goals. Cheers to your publishing dreams!
